Luis Marcillo-Coronado Runner at Jellyfish

Luis David Marcillo-Coronado
Many congratulations to Escapee Luis David Marcillo-Coronado who has recently landed a position as a Runner at Jellyfish Pictures in London.

Luis completed a Master's Degree in Animation here at Escape Studios and, after graduating with an MA, continued to polish his demo reel.

At Escape, Luis worked on the award-winning short film "Flame", a group project directed by Cherelle Owusu and produced by Carolina Xavier.

Working as a runner is a well-established entry-level pathway into the animation and vfx industries.

Award-winning "Flame"
Demo Reel
You can see Luis David Marcillo-Coronado's demo reel below. It includes a number of excellent shots he worked on at Escape Studios, including his work on "Flame"

"Flame" was a collaborative project, with MA animation students working together to complete the film, working under conditions designed to mirror as closely as possible the real-world experience on a film at a commercial studio.  Working on group projects helps animators take their work to a higher level of sophistication, working to a defined brief, taking notes, and polishing the final product to a professional level of quality.

Jellyfish Pictures
Working as a Runner
Most of the big Soho VFX houses use both runner positions and internships as stepping-stones on to a full time creative role.  Jellyfish pictures is one of London's leading animation and VFX houses, currently working on a large project for DreamWorks Animation. We congratulate Luis on taking his first steps in the business.

Animation Escapees at Jellyfish
Luis joins Escapees Laura KnightHenry Fenwick and Rory Marchant who also found work as animators at Jellyfish after graduating from Escape Studios.
