Concept artists help to shape major projects in the creative industries by developing the underlying artistic vision.

Concept Artists develop the visual ideas and themes that shape the look and feel of projects, working closely with directors and producers.

This September we welcome back film-maker, designer & visual development artist Steven Sole to teach Concept Art to our 2nd year undergraduate students at Escape Studios. 

Steven Sole joins us from Framestore and also from Tiger Aspect Productions, where he was Art Director on the hit TV series Mr Bean.  

Our BA/MArt in Concept Art and Experience Design focuses on digital design for industries such as games, animation and film, as well as experiential design for branded events, theme parks, interiors and museums.

Steve Sole to Teach 2nd Year Short Film Projects

On Monday 17th April 2023 we welcome back film-maker, designer & visual development artist Steven Sole to teach our 2nd year undergraduate students, who are currently starting their second group film project at Escape Studios, part of Module PR5001, a Studio Project Module in which students work together as a group to create an original animated short film. 

Our students have five weeks from Monday until the end of the summer term to create a new short film, taking it from pitch to final render, closely mirroring the production pipeline of a real animation studio.

On Monday 23rd January 2023 we welcome back designer & visual development artist Steven Sole to teach the fundamentals of Production Design for Animation. 

Production Design is a vital part of making a short film.  What will the film look like? What is the colour palette?

Steven will be teaching our 2nd year undergraduate students, who are currently working on their Specialism Module CR5001.
