AN5002 Creature Animation Returns 18 Sept 2023

On Monday 18 September 2023 our 2nd year undergraduate animators return to Escape Studios to start their next module: AN5002: Advanced Computer Animation, in which students learn to animate animals and creatures.  

AN5002 starts on Monday 18 September 2023 and finishes on Friday 20 October 2023.  The Portfolio assignment, a 7-11 second animal or creature animation, is due on Wednesday 18 October 2023. The Retrospective assignment is due on Monday 23rd October 2023 at 11.59pm.

On Monday 19 September 2022 our 2nd year undergraduate animators return to Escape Studios to start their next module: AN5002: Advanced Computer Animation, in which students learn to animate animals and creatures.  

AN5002 starts on Monday 19 September 2022 and finishes on Friday 21 October 2022.  The Portfolio assignment, a 7-11 second animal or creature animation, is due on Wednesday 19 October 2022. The Retrospective assignment is due on Monday 24th October 2022 at 11.59pm.

How to Plan Animal & Creature Animation

Our undergraduate animators are working on their second animation module, AN5002, which involves the creation of a piece of animal or creature animation.

Animal and creature animation involves creating believable animation - usually based on live-action reference.

Marc Stevenson to Teach Animals & Creatures

We're delighted to welcome back veteran animator Marc Stevenson, who will be joining us again at Escape Studios on Monday September 20th to teach our second year undergraduate students Module AN5002, in which students tackle the art of animal and creature animation.  

Marc has credits on multiple Hollywood VFX films including Fast & Furious 6, Avengers, Age of Ultron, Moon, and Victor Frankenstein.

Marc has also created many tutorials for our students, which you can find at our Animation Vimeo Channel.

AN5002 Animals & Creatures Starts 20 Sept

On Monday 20 September 2021 our 2nd year undergraduate animators return to Escape Studios to start a new module: AN5002: Advanced Computer Animation.

In this module, worth 30 credits, students learn to animate animals and creatures. The module starts on Monday 20 September 2021 and lasts five weeks. It finishes on Friday 22nd October with students submitting a short piece of animal or creature animation for final assessment.

Next week on Monday 2nd November our 2nd year undergraduate animators start a new module: AN5002: Advanced Computer Animation.

In this module, worth 30 credits, students get to grips with animating animals and creatures.

The module starts on Monday 2nd November and lasts six weeks. It finishes on Friday 11th December  shortly before Christmas.

In AN5002 students develop their skills in animal and creature animation, including quadruped locomotion and performance.

Happy Christmas from Escape Studios



Happy Christmas from the animation dept at Escape Studios. Above is a short piece of animation created by Morgan Mda, a second year undergraduate animation student at Escape Studios. Morgan created this animation for AN5002, one of the second year animation modules in which our student animators tackle the art and craft of animal and creature animation.  Many thanks to Morgan for the animation, and a very Merry Christmas to all our students, friends and Escapees.

AN5002: Advanced Anim Starts This Week

On Monday 4th November our 2nd year undergraduate animators started a new module: AN5002: Advanced Computer Animation.

In this module, worth 30 credits, students get to grips with animating animals and creatures.

The module started on Monday 4th November and lasts six weeks. It finishes on Friday December 20th,  just before Christmas.

In AN5002 students develop their skills in animal and creature animation, including quadruped locomotion and performance.
