Many congratulations to Escapee Uma Mahendran who earned a screen credit as a storyboard artist on the new Netflix release from Locksmith Animation and DNEG: "That Christmas". 

 Uma Mahendran took our Short Course in 3D Animation at Escape Studios, and is currently working as a storyboard artist.  

"That Christmas" is a Netflix release, produced by Locksmith Animation and the UK VFX and animation house DNEG.

Escapee Priya Shah 3D Layout Artist at Locksmith

Priya Shah

Congratulations to Escapee Priya Shah who is now working as a Layout Artist at Locksmith Animation in London.  Locksmith is one of London's leading animation studios, responsible for the critically acclaimed animated feature film "Ron's Gone Wrong". 

While at Escape Studios, Priya worked on a number of short film projects, including directing "Our Ocean", an animated short created by our fourth year animation and vfx students, studying the Art of Computer Animation and VFX.

Dave Edwardz Visits Escape Studios 19 May

A very warm welcome to Dave Edwardz from Locksmith Animation who will visit Escape Studios next week on Thursday May 19th along with his colleague Shelley Page.  Dave is Head of Layout at Locksmith, and will talk about opportunities for graduates to explore entry level positions in 3D Layout at Locksmith.

3D Layout is one of the key roles on an animated film, the equivalent of cinematography on a live-action set.  3D Layout artists make creative choices about camera and layout, contributing significantly to the look and feel of a project.

Animation industry veteran Shelley Page will return to Escape Studios tomorrow to give our second year animation students industry feedback on their short film projects, and also carry out industry marking. 

Shelley has been working in feature animation since 1986, with credits including "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", "Shrek 1-4", "Shark Tale", "Madagascar", "Kung Fu Panda", and "How to Train Your Dragon". 

Shelley is currently Key Talent and Artist Liaison at Locksmith Animation in London.   As always, engagement with industry is very much at the heart of what we do at Escape Studios. 

Locksmith Animation Studio Opens in London

Good news for the London animation industry; the long awaited Locksmith animation studio, first announced back in 2014,  has opened its new premises in Primrose Hill, housing up to 70 artists.

Locksmith brings with it the prospect of jobs, creative success, and - at last - a proper, fully equipped animation studio right here in London.
