"Meet The Masters" With Daniel Amor takes place on Thursday 28 November 2024. from 6-7pm.

Daniel Amor joins Escape Studios to teach our new Short Course and MA in Motion Graphics.

Daniel Amor is an experienced Motion Graphics Artist who has also worked extensively in the VFX industry. 

Daniel took our 12 week animation course at Escape Studios and has worked on many animation and VFX hits, including Hunger Games, Black Panther and The Marvels.

How Animators Get Hired For Games - Today at 1pm

Into Games is hosting a free live-streamed talk today Wednesday 22nd May at 1pm UK time for animators seeking a career as an animator in the Games Industry. 

The title of the talk is "Animation: Communicating the fundamentals. How to Prove You've Got The Experience".

Today's talk is for animators who are either "pre-games or very early in their games industry career". 

The talk will be delivered by Hannah Kravets a Gameplay Animator currently working with Climax Studios.

Creating Content Webinar with British Council

Escape Studios, Animation UK, and the British Council are teaming up for an "Introduction to Content Development" webinar on Monday 24 January at 10am, discussing ways in which animation studios in Nigeria can create their own unique content and characters.

In the past two decades the animation industry has gone from being a small cottage industry to a global powerhouse, driven by advances in technology and also a huge increase in content creation.  The Nigerian animation business is a growing part of this landscape. 

In this webinar, made possible by the British Council, we'll be looking at the ways in which African startup studios can create their own unique content and characters and turn these into business opportunities. 

Simone Giampaolo Presents "Only a Child"

On Tuesday 12 October at 12.30pm we are hosting a webinar with animator, director and Escape Studios' tutor Simone Giampaolo about his new short film "Only a Child", which he describes as a "visual poem" created by over 20 animation directors.

"Only a Child" is a short film based on the original words spoken by the then 12 year-old Severn Cullis-Suzuki at the UN Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, in which she made a poetic plea from a child's perspective for better environmental protection. 

Simone spent twelve months working with twenty studios to create the award winning film.  In this webinar, Simone will talk about how he made the film, and how he led an international team working remotely to celebrate the environmental youth movement.  

This event is open to our currently enrolled students only; there will be a Q&A to follow.

Careers Webinar with Blue Zoo ILM & Jellyfish

Last week on 5 August we hosted a free online Animation Careers Evening with animation industry leaders ILM, Blue Zoo and Jellyfish Pictures.  Blue Zoo recruiter Lauren Barnes, and animators Jamie Floodgate, Jack Bond and Joel Airebamen discussed the latest career opportunities in the expanding animation industry, offering their insights into how to get hired into the current animation boom. Who is hiring, and for what skills? What kind of demo reel do you need to get hired? How has Brexit affected the jobs environment? Watch this video to find out. 

How to Find Work in an Animation Boom

On 7th July Escape Studios hosted a webinar on finding work in the animation industry.  The industry is booming right now, with the job market busier than it has been since the 1990s, when "Lion King" caused an explosion in demand for animators.  However, the industry is still competitive, and only those with the right skills will find work.  Watch this one hour webinar to find out the ten key steps to land that crucial first job.

On Tuesday 27th July at 6pm industry veteran and animation program leader Michael Davies will deliver a free webinar on the use of Unreal Engine, the real-time renderer that is transforming the animation and VFX industries.

In this one hour webinar Michael will utilise free online content and motion capture to show students how to use the latest tools in Unreal Engine 5 to create real-time cinematics.

Escape Studios is now an officially accredited Unreal Engine Authorised Training Centre (ATC), the only one in the UK and one of only two in Europe.

On 30 June we hosted a live animation webinar with legendary Disney and DreamWorks animator James Baxter.  James began his animation career on Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and has since worked on dozens of animated films.   James was the animation lead on Belle on Beauty and the Beast, Rafiki on The Lion King, and Quasimodo on The Hunchback of Notre Dame.  He also won the Windsor McCay Award at the 2018 Annie Awards (the animation "Oscars").

Previs Webinar with The 3rd Floor on 5 May

On May 5th at 5pm Escape Studios is hosting a webinar with guest speaker Brad Blackbourn - Virtual Production Manager from our industry partner Third Floor Studios, specialists in previsualisation. 

Brad will introduce our students to the work of Previs artists, what skills students need to break into the industry, how mentors provide feedback, and how industry feedback works. 

And, of course, Brad will explain how our students can find work in the fast-expanding previsualisation industry.

On Friday 5th February Escape Studios hosted a webinar with Los Angeles based story artist Sergio Paez, interviewed by Iliana Franklin, who teaches our Master's Degree in Storyboarding and Pre-Visualisation at Escape Studios. 

Sergio Paez is a storyboard artist and director, with over 20 years of experience of storyboarding for feature films, TV, and games.  Sergio was most recently episodic director on Star Wars Resistance at Lucas Arts and has previously storyboarded on many episodes of the Star Wars franchise including The Clone Wars and Rebels, often working out of Skywalker Ranch. 

In this webinar, Sergio shares his "Five Pillars of Storytelling" - the secrets to success as a storyboard artist and film-maker. 

Animation Webinar with Michael Morgan

We've uploaded a new Character Animation Webinar to our YouTube Channel; this time with veteran animator Michael Morgan, who has worked on multiple animation blockbusters such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Beauty and the Beast, and Black Panther, and teaches our 20 week animation evening class at Escape Studios.  In this 60 minute webinar Michael explains what the latest trends are in the animation industry, why animators are very much in demand, and where the new opportunities lie (clue, PreVis Animation is big and growing!) for those with the right skills. 

QC Animations Webinar

On Tuesday 26 January we hosted a webinar with Escape Studios' animation student Charlotte Gimbird, about her YouTube Channel QC Animations.  QC Animations is a YouTube Channel based around the world of Minecraft, with over 80,000 subscribers, and hundreds of thousands of views every month.  In this 60 minute webinar Charlotte talks about what inspired her to create QC Animations, and how she turned it into a creative and commercial success.
