"Spitfire" wins Best 1st-Time Director at the AFA
Congratulations to the makers of "Spitfire", which has won an Honourable Mention in the category of Best First-Time director at the Art Film Awards.

"Spitfire" tells the story of the inspiration behind the legendary WW2 aircraft, and its creator R J Mitchell.  "Spitfire" was directed by Christopher Mardsen-Carleton, produced by Conall Ferguson and edited by Jessa Timog-Santiago.  This is the film's first film festival award.

Studio Module
"Spitfire" was completed as part of Studio Module PR5001, a collaborative module in which second-year animation students work together on short film projects, simulating as closely as possible the workings of a real animation studio.  In this case, seven second-year students had six weeks to bring the project to life from pitch to final render.

Software
Spitfire was animated in Autodesk Maya, edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, and rendered in Unreal Engine, the real-time renderer that increasingly forms a key part of the pipeline for many of our short films.
