"Officially Certified School" & "Top Ranked School"
We're delighted to announce that Escape Studios has been approved as a "Rookies" Officially Certified School and "Top Ranked School" for 2020.

This is a great honour for us - only the best international schools receive certification from The Rookies, reflecting our students' growing technical and creative success in recent years.

Escape Studios at "The Rookies"
Our students have experienced growing success over the past few years. For example, this year the VR project Aspen Lane was ranked No2 by the Rookies, in a highly competitive field.

Other successful entries include the short film "Offcut" directed by Petroc Menuhin, which was a finalist this year for "VFX Film of the Year", and in 2019 The Rookies ranked us no 4 globally for VFX and Animation.

About the Rookies
The Rookies has become a major platform for aspiring new talent to showcase their digital imagery. It runs global awards to promote the best emerging talent from animation, games and VFX schools across the world. Formal accreditation is awarded by invitation-only to the very best schools that provide the most up-to-date and relevant industry training and education for students aspiring to work in creative media industries.

Independent Panel
The Rookies work with an independent panel to assess creative media and entertainment schools. The review process makes sure only the best schools are accepted.
Some of the factors within the review process include:
  • Alumni feedback and success stories
  • Graduate acceptance rates
  • Facilities and resources
  • Relationship with industry
  • Studios that hire graduates
  • Quality of student work
As part of this accreditation, a profile for Escape Studios has been published on the Rookies site, which is available to view here.

Rookies 2019
In 2019 our BAFTA Short-listed Short film Jerich0, directed by Sarah Andrews and produced by VFX artist Matt Wight, made it to the finals for VFX Film of the Year.  And 3rd year undergraduate animation student Maria Roberton's animation reel was a finalist for 3D Animator Rookie of the Year.

Animation Rankings
We've been climbing the international rankings lately, and not just at The Rookies. For example, in 2020 Animation Career Review have ranked us #18 for Animation Internationally, #10 for Animation in Europe, and #4 for Animation in the UK.
