Texturing in Maya with Michael Davies

We've uploaded a new series of videos to our Vimeo channel, on Texturing in Maya, with our UG Program Leader Michael Davies.

The five videos are an introduction to the basics of materials and textures in Maya, and are a useful place to begin for anyone looking to understand the basics of texturing in Maya.

Texturing with Michael Davies
This is a beginner level tutorial, and there are five videos in the series:
  1. The Material. Materials, also known as Shaders, allow us to change how light interacts with a surface (5 mins).
  2. The Textures. Textures change the look of an asset. Change something that looks like marble to something else by changing the texture (7 mins)
  3. The Bump. Bump Maps are a way of adding additional surface detail without changing the geometry (4 mins).
  4. The Lights. A brief overview of the Lighting in Maya looking at the different attributes and where and when you would need one. (5 mins)
  5. The Render. Final Render (5 mins)
