Jack Thompson Junior Rigger at Aardman

Many congratulations to Escapee Jack Thompson, who has recently begun a new position with Aardman Animation as a Junior Rigger.

Aardman Animation, based in Bristol, is one of the UK's leading animation companies, responsible for many animated hits including the "Wallace and Gromit" series of shorts.

Jack Thompson studied the Art of Computer Animation at Escape Studios, and made significant contributions to a number of successful animated projects, including two award-winning short films: "Joe" and "Over Under".

Jack Thompson studied the art of Computer Animation at Escape Studios, and during his studies he contributed to a number of successful animated projects, including two award-winning short films: "Joe" and "Over Under", working in a wide variety of disciplines, building up a broad general portfolio of work.  

On Joe, which recently won "Best Genre Film" at the Heroes film festival,  Jack worked as Lead Animator and also as a Character Rigger.  

On "Over Under", which recently won an award for "Most Fabulous Animation" at the Animafantasia Film Festival, Jack worked as Head TD, Unreal Engine TD, Animator, Layout artist, cinematographer Lighting supervisor, Pipeline supervisor and also Rigging artist.

Aardman Animation approached Escape Studios at the end of last year looking for rigging artists, and we were able to recommend Jack for the role.  Jack combines creative skill with a strong technical understanding of the animation pipeline, making him perfect for a role in rigging animated characters.
