"Knight Spider" Competition from The Rookies

"The Rookies" have a launched a new free character rig for Maya - the "Knight Spider", which you can download from their official site

It's a free Maya Rig and, while we haven't yet road-tested it, it looks suitable for some nice character animation.

The Rookies has also organised a special character animation contest for the Knight Spider rig, which you can find here.  The contest is open to students and recent graduates; entries opened on 24 September and the contest closes on 14 January 2022. 

About the Knight Spider
Mehmet Tayfur Türkmenoğluwe created the Knight Spider using Autodesk Maya. The character was rigged by Mike Fabris. 

Competition Rules 
  • The deadline is 14 January 2022
  • Do not touch the camera, light setup, background or scene materials.
  • You are allowed to add 3D Assets with default shaders from Adobe Substance 3D Assets.
  • Your animation must be 10 seconds in length @ 24fps.
  • Videos must be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and embedded to your entry page.
  • You must share your progress. This is a Play-by-Play contest that requires you to add multiple updates to your entry page.  Entries that only share a single update will be disqualified.
