Student Showcase - Planet Middle Earth
Many congratulations to our second year animators on their excellent short film "Planet Middle Earth". Planet Middle Earth is a documentary short film completed by undergraduate animation students at Escape Studios, working alongside industry mentors from Framestore, who generously gave their time to make regular visits to our High Holborn Campus and keep us on track.
The brief was to create an animal or creature documentary, or "mockumentary".
Six students had six weeks to complete the project, from initial concept to final render, as part of a "studio project" module, in which students learned to work together in groups for the first time.
Group work is difficult to manage, with many pitfalls. Relying on other people is hard and, unlike in a real studio, no-one gets fired if they don't pull their weight. But the results so far have been spectacular, far exceeding all our expectations, and we can't wait to see what our talented students can pull off in their final year.
