"Checkmate" Wins "Best Super Short" in London

"Checkmate" wins "Best Super Short" in London
Congratulations to the makers of the short animated film "Checkmate", which has won "Best Super Short" at the London Movie Awards.

Checkmate was completed as part of Studio Module PR5001, a collaborative module in which second-year animation students work together on short film projects.  

Checkmate was directed by Cara Masters and produced by Erminas Surgautas.  This is its second festival award.

Checkmate was completed as part of Studio Module PR5001, a collaborative module in which second-year animation students work together on short film projects, simulating as closely as possible the environment and pipeline of a real animation studio.  

Software
Checkmate was animated in Maya, rendered in Arnold, and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Max Howard
Many thanks to our industry friends for their feedback and support. Veteran Animation producer and former Disney executive Max Howard offered feedback to our second year animation students on their short film projects.  Max Howard has many years of experience of animation production, having run animation divisions at Disney, DreamWorks and Warner Bros Feature Animation.
