Helen Piercy External Examiner for UG Animation

Helen Piercy
Meet Helen Piercy, our new External Examiner for our BA in 3D animation at Escape Studios.  External examiners play an important part of quality control in UK higher education, ensuring that our courses meet the highest standards, and the grades awarded are correct and appropriate.

We're honoured to have Helen onboard; she is an experienced animator, published author, Education Director for Animated Women UK and also an Animation Lecturer at the Norwich University of the Arts.
About Helen Piercy
Helen Piercy is Education Director for Animated Women UK and also an Animation Lecturer at the Norwich University of the Arts. She is also the creator of "Animation Studio 1" the animation starter kit which can be purchased online at amazon, and is a great way to get kids their first taste of animation.

Animation Workshops
Animation Studio 1 by Helen Piercy
I first came across Helen when she was teaching an "Animation for Kids" workshop at the Bush Theatre in West London, where she brought animation to life for a room full of children, showing (apparently effortlessly) how animation can be made accessible for a young audience.

The Role of External Examiner
External examiners ensure that standards are consistent across the animation sector. They check our grades, making sure we're awarding marks appropriately, and that our standards are consistent with other universities and colleges in the UK.

For our BA students, this involves double-checking our marks, to make sure that both first and second marking (we second-mark all the results internally) has been carried out fairly, in accordance with the regulations of Kent University, who award our degrees.
