UCAS Applications Now Open

UCAS - time to apply
It's that time of year - UCAS applications are open again.  If you are thinking of applying to Escape Studios to study the Art of 3D Animation, Games or Visual effects, it's time to consider your application through UCAS.

The UCAS deadline for Escape Studios is 26 January 2022. We are now welcoming applications for the sixth intake of our integrated BA/MArt in Animation, Games and VFX - first launched in September 2016. But don't delay - apply before January if you can.

Apply Early
Don't wait to apply - early applications will be first to be interviewed, and will be first in line. One of the most common questions I get asked by prospective students is this: "Should I wait to apply to Escape Studios until I have finished my portfolio?" The answer is no - get your UCAS application in promptly, and then worry about your portfolio later.  You will have plenty of time before attending one of our Creative Workshops to pull your portfolio together.

UCAS Deadline 26 January 2022
The official extended UCAS deadline is 26 January 2022, but it's a good idea to get yours in early.  Applying early is a good thing; it shows us you have drive and commitment, and that you are well-organised - all good qualities for a career in the creative industries. It will also get you an early spot on one of our Creative Workshops.

Official Course Video
Watch our official course video here. It's only a few minutes long, and it explains what we're trying to do here at Escape Studios.

Partnerships with Industry
With more than 4,000 Escapees working in the industry, Escape Studios have years of experience of forging partnerships with the animation and VFX business, especially the with the visual effects industry in Soho, London.
One of London's leading VFX houses

Soho, home to the UK's animation and VFX industry, is just a ten minute walk from our Holborn campus.

We have extensive connections to industry including Framestore, Cinesite, MPC and other visual effects houses in London - and many studios overseas.

Where can you see the past work done by Escapees?
Take a look at past video compilations showcasing some of the work done by our students, and student demo reels.

Creative Workshops
We interview all our candidates at our Creative Workshop days, largely because we want to make sure that you are a good fit for our course, and vice versa - we don't want anyone to sign up at Escape and be disappointed.  You will need a portfolio - check out our post here on portfolio suggestions.

Finding work
We make strenuous efforts to help our students find work.  Of course, the key ingredient to finding work in the industry is to cut a great demo reel. Visit the Escape Studios YouTube channel to see some of the many excellent demo reels put together by our graduates.

Finance
There is a well-established system of low-interest government loans in place, and in addition some scholarships and bursaries are available here. You can read our handy guide to the system here.

Getting Ready
Here is a list of useful books to get you started. Number one is The Animator's Survival Kit - every student should have a copy. Also, check out the week 1 videos at Animation Apprentice, which are a great introduction to the art of animation. They are all free.

Better yet, come and visit us at one of our Open Days, Experience Days or Taster Days - and see for yourself.

The Escape Studios Animation Blog offers a personal view on the art of animation and visual effects. To find out more about our new BA/MArt, now recruiting for September 2022,  follow this link.   To apply, visit the offical page here.
