Our Third Year animation & vfx students are currently tackling PR6001, a Studio Project module worth 60 Credits and which runs for the whole academic year.  In PR6001 our animation and vfx students work together in teams to create short films - winning many festival awards.

Students work together in a module designed as closely as possible to simulate working on a live client brief.

One Module, Two Projects

PR6001 Studio Project Module is broken up into two projects; the first is an Unreal Engine Project, the second is the VFX Project.

Award-Winning Shorts

Studio Project 1: Unreal Engine Project - September 2024
For our animation students, Studio Project 1 - the Unreal Engine Project - started in September 2024.  In the Unreal Engine Project, animation students create professional-quality animation, using the Unreal Engine pipeline, which utilises real-time rendering.

Unreal Engine Project - Real-Time Rendering
 Unreal Engine
Rendering in real time has become a major priority for many of our industry partners, such as Blue Zoo, saving time in post-production and permitting resources to be more efficiently deployed elsewhere in the pipeline.

Malloe and Minuet
Successful Unreal Engine projects include Malloe and Minuet.   Both Malloe and Minuet have won multiple festival awards

Studio Project 2: VFX/Animation project.

In this group project, which starts in January 2025, animation students work alongside VFX students, both 3D and 2D, to create professional-quality 3D animation, such as the short film Jerich0 below, which has won many festival awards. Jerich0 was selected for the BFI London Film Festival, and was also short-listed for a student BAFTA.

VFX/Anim Project Schedule
The VFX/Animation project starts on 13 January, with the pitching of ideas. You can see the full schedule below.

Keep It Short
"Malloe" has won multiple awards
The VFX short films are usually around 90 seconds long. It is always better to do a great job on a short film, rather than try to be too ambitious.

Teamwork
The Third Year of Animation at Escape Studios focuses on students working together in teams to create original content, industry-quality work, to formal deadlines.

PR6001 is taught by our third year animation and VFX tutors, all of who have extensive experience of working in industry.
