ELAM describes itself as "a full-time Industry Academy for 16-19 years olds interested in pursuing a career in Music, Film and Television Production and Games Design."
In other words, a perfect fit for Escape Studios. Many ELAM students apply to Escape, and are accepted onto our undergraduate courses.
ELAM
The students I met at ELAM yesterday were bright, lively, and very interested in careers in creative media, especially the games industry. ELAM, which is rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted, run an Extended Diploma in Games Design - equivalent to three A-Levels.
Careers in Creative Media
The students asked intelligent questions - What is the state of the Creative Industries? How is Artificial Intelligence changing the way that people work? What courses do we offer at Escape Studios, and which courses offer the best chances for success? All good questions, deserving of proper answers.
Games Design
The ELAM Extended Diploma in Games Design course hosts an annual showcase every spring, the most recent in April 2023. Trainees showed off their projects on a variety of arcade machines. Game Jam
Three Arcade machines were designed in a competition by ELAM Games trainees, showing off their work to industry guests.
Careers in Games
ELAM also bring back their alumni for industry talks, showing how students who began their games studies at ELAM went on to make successful careers in games.
