Alex Maynard Teaches Unreal Engine 17 Jan 2023

Alex Maynard teaches Unreal Engine
Tomorrow Tuesday 17th January Escape Studios welcomes Studio Assistant Alex Maynard to introduce our second year animation students to the power of Unreal Engine.

Realtime rendering is a growing part of the animation production pipeline. Whether our students are studying VFX, animation, or games, Unreal Engine offers big savings in render times.

Real Time Rendering with Unreal Engine
Unreal Engine renders shots in real time, allowing our students to focus their energy on animation and character performance, without worrying about whether they will manage to make the production deadline.  No more late nights crossing your fingers and hoping that the Arnold render will come through; Unreal Engine offers a much faster solution.

Alex Maynard
Alex Maynard is a Studio Assistant at Escape Studios, and also the director of the award-winning short film Hannibelle.  In 2022 Alex served as CG Supervisor on the award-winning short film Freefall, on which he supervised the Unreal Engine pipeline.

Festival Success
Many of the short films made at Escape Studios are now rendered in Unreal Engine.

The short films Planet Mars, Minuet and Adam & Eve Mk II were all rendered in Unreal Engine and have enjoyed considerable festival success, winning festival awards since as early as 2019.

Unreal Engine at Our Vimeo Channel
For anyone who can't make it tomorrow's class, or needs an Unreal Engine refresher, we have uploaded a series of tutorials by Escape Studios Head of Animation Michael Davies. The tutorials can be found at our Vimeo Channel on how to use the Unreal Engine rendering pipeline.
