Monty Weight Shift |
One of the hardest things to achieve in 3D animation is the creation a sense of weight. Weight is hard to simulate because our characters are just pixels - they have no intrinsic weight, so we have to create the illusion of weight from scratch.
This tutorial shows how to transfer weight so that the character does not appear floaty or weightless.
Our tutorials cover Animation, 3D VFX, Compositing, Rigging, Motion Graphics, Storyboarding & Character Design, Unreal Engine and Cinematography.

This tutorial is especially useful for animating characters in a crowd. The trick is to make sure that the weight is safely transferred from one foot to another so that the character never appears weightless or floaty.
