Congratulations to Escapee Kevin Richards who is working as a lead animator in Bournemouth at Aardman Animation, on Paper Pop City, a new TV series developed by the Bristol-based studio. 

Kevin graduated from our 12 week course in 3D animation, and soon found work as a 3D animator at Cloth Cat in Cardiff; later working on the Channel 5 series Shane the Chef. 

Kevin has also been a regular guest tutor at Escape Studios, helping to teach a new generation of the students the art and craft of character animation. 

Paper Pop City

Paper Pop City is a new series from Aardman Animation, the studio that brought audiences the much-loved Wallace and Gromit series, as well as Sean The Sheep. 

Studying at Escape Studios 
Kevin took our short course in 3D animation, and soon found work as a 3D animator at Cloth Cat Animation in Cardiff. 

Kevin explains that he "would not have been able to do this job were it not for the course at Escape Studios, which integrates classical animation principles with a working knowledge of the technology in under 12 weeks."

Advice for students 
Kevin advises students to "study the rules of character animation and produce between 2 - 3 character studies, around ten to fifteen seconds long, that show weight, acting, emotion and storytelling - this is what will get you a job".
