Offcut Wins Best Under 5 Minute Film at Flicks

It's nice to have some good news in these troubled times; so please forgive us if we take time out from Covid-19 coverage to offer our  congratulations to the makers of "Offcut", which has won an award for "Best Under 5 Minute Film" at the monthly Flicks Film Festival.

Offcut, is a short film directed by Petroc Menuhin, which follows the adventures of a discarded scrap of wood who comes to life and finds meaning in music.  It's a charming film, and a well-deserved winner.

Of course, we don't know how many film festivals will still be holding events in the near future. Many, perhaps most, will cancel, or move to an online-only event. But, for what's it's worth, below is our latest festival roundup.

Online Teaching at Escape Studios Continues
Our students may not be attending class in person these days, but teaching continues. On Monday Michael Morgan taught his animation evening class online using Zoom, and will do so again tonight. Last night Plamen Ananiev taught Toonboom Harmony, and Sandra Duchiewicz taught Concept Art.  Jonathan McFall is also teaching his Monday evening class in Character Creation on an online platform.  So, albeit in unfamiliar ways, it is business as usual at Escape Studios.

Working from home
If you're working from home, and you need to buy a laptop, see our top tips here.

Finally, enjoy Escape Studios' tutor Simone Giampaolo's excellent Covod-19 cartoon, right.
