Maciej Osuch Wins "Search for a Star" Award

Maciej Osuch - Rising Star
We're proud to congratulate Maciej Osuch, one of our second year undergraduate animation students at  Escape Studios, who has just won a "Rising Star" Award in the category of Games Animation at this year's "Search for a Star" awards, hosted by Grads in Games.

Maciej entered the competition back in 2018, choosing Games Animation as his animation specialism so that he could focus on the competition.

He sent in a portfolio of work, and then focused in class on completing a number of different games animations (idle, powering up, release, recovery).

This was followed by a formal interview, which focused on questions about team work and co-operation on studio projects - something we specialise in at Escape Studios.

What is Grads in Games?
Grads in Games was launched by games industry recruiters Aardvark Swift.  Grads in Games aims to help graduates make the leap from student to professional developer.

They do this through a comprehensive program of events, activities and resources – all designed to equip students and graduates with the skills employers need. They also have a dedicated graduate talent recruitment desk. Their specialist Grads in Games Consultants work solely with graduates and students, helping them break into the games industry.

The Grads In Games Awards are designed to recognise the individuals and institutions that have made a real impact in improving the links between the games industry and education.

The awards recognise and highlight the academics, universities, colleges & courses that are going the extra mile, not just in educating, but actively helping students make the leap from student games developer to professional games developer.

Maciej Osuch - Rising Star
The Search For a Star judges had this to say about Maciej's work: "Maciej’s showreel had great variety, perfectly highlighted his skills and really showed just how much potential he has as an animator. Impressing the judges with his ability to understand his own limitations and willingness to work with others to help improve his knowledge, Maciej’s humble attitude and desire to learn came through in his interview. With his impressive portfolio and positive attitude, the judges were pleased to announce him as this years winner. "

Many congratulations from us all in the animation department at Escape Studios on a great start to Maciej's career. To see more of his work, check out the excellent trailer he directed for "The Golden Acorn".
