Sydney Padua Teaches Animals and Creatures

Sydney Padua talks animals & creatures
Escape Studios recently welcomed back veteran animator (and creature specialist) Sydney Padua, who has been teaching our animation students animal and creature locomotion, and performance.  Sydney's animation career includes classics like Brad Bird's The Iron Giant and - most recently - The Jungle Book, where she contributed to the hyper-realistic style of the hugely successful Disney remake. She also worked on the yet-to-be-released remake of The Lion King, which is largely being animated at London VFX powerhouse Framestore.

Lovelace and Babbage

Sydney also has a flourishing career as a writer and illustrator - she recently published the graphic novel "The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage", a steampunk re-imagining of the lives of computer pioneers Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage. Sydney brings a storytelling angle to her classroom teaching, reminding us that animators aren't just technicians - they are storytellers too.

To see more about Sydney's work, you can see her website 2DGoggles here.  To see her roster of film work, check out her IMDB page here.

And to see the animal and creature work done at Escape Studios, watch the video below.
