Life Drawing at Student Central

Did you know that all our undergraduate students here at Escape Studios have free access to Student Central, just a short walk from our High Holborn Campus?

Student Central is the "home for all students studying towards a degree at any London University Institute or College".

It's a bit like a big Student Union - a place to meet other students, and also get involved in sports, societies and arts activities - such as life drawing classes.

Student Central Facilities
Facilities include three bars, a fully equipped gym, fitness classes and the largest indoor pool in central London.  Our students can also book rooms, get help finding a place to live, and even get legal advice.

The Student Central Art Society is a place to develop traditional art skills, such as life drawing and painting.

Life drawing
The Art Society run weekly life drawing classes during term time, with a wide range of models, taught by artist Frank Gambino.

Where and when
Life drawing classes run from 6:30-9:30pm every Wednesday in Room 3E on the third floor of the Student Central building on Malet Street, Bloomsbury.

How much?
£5 for members - or £6 for non-members. This includes the tutor and model, and includes some basic materials and refreshments. You can also bring your own materials, of course.

Art Society Facebook Group
The Art Society even have their own Facebook page right here

Why go to life drawing classes? Because an understanding of human anatomy, and the ability to capture a pose or gesture in a few lines, is still a very useful skill - even in a digital world.

Life drawing for animators
Animators in particular benefit from being able to do quick "thumbnail" sketches, helping to plan animation efficiently in advance. It's a great skill to acquire and we strongly recommend that our students take advantage of the many opportunities in Central London to attend classes like this one.

Where is Student Central?
Malet St, London WC1E 7HY. It's roughly a 14 minute walk from our campus at 190 High Holborn.

And remember - access is free for all our undergraduate students.

The Escape Studios Animation Blog offers a personal view on the art of animation and visual effects. To find out more about our new BA/MArt, now recruiting for September 2017, follow this link.   To apply, visit the offical page here.
