Rookies 2020: Deadline June 1st

At Escape Studios we encourage all of our students to enter The Rookies Awards, the international competition for young creatives, which opened on 7th March, and closes on 1st June.

The Rookies was founded in 2009 to "showcase the most talented student designers, illustrators, film makers, animators, developers, digital artists, and launch them into the career of their dreams."

This year the deadline is 1st June 2020, so there is plenty of time to start crafting a great project.

How do the Rookies work?
Start by creating an entry page and submitting your details. You set up a page and use it to showcase your best work - this can be both as a team (say, on a group project) and also individual work. Note that professional client-facing paid work is not admissible.

What is the deadline to enter?
You can enter your work anytime until the deadline of June 1st 2020.

What sort of thing should go on a student page?
Students should treat their entry page as something they would show a recruiter when applying for a job. It should include a small bio about them, examples of their work, and your work history.

How do awards get made?
The Rookies judges will review student work and make awards.

What are the rules?
To enter The Rookies you must:
  • be 18 years or older.
  • have studied at a certified university, school, or online training facility between January 2019 and May 2020.
  • create an entry page and upload examples of your work

Can it lead to a job?
Yes, the Rookies has a number of recruitment partners who promote student work and help students find jobs.

Escape Studios Successes
Last year we had a number of successes in The Rookies, including being ranked No 4 globally for Animation & VFX,  being "Highly Commended" in many categories,  and reaching the finals in many categories in animation, VFX and games.  It's time to do even better this year.
