Meet the 3D Animation Team at Escape Studios

3D Animation Team at Escape Studios
Who teaches 3D Animation at Escape Studios? We are fortunate to have many talented tutors in our large and growing animation department.  

We have a depth of talent and skills among our staff that ensures we can teach all aspects of the animation pipeline, from concept art through storyboarding, animation and final render. 

Below (in no particular order) are some of our talented tutors you will find teaching 3D Animation in our classrooms at Escape Studios.

Lee Caller - Short Course & MA

Lee Caller
is an award-winning animator who teaches our Short Course, Advanced Animation and MA Animation students at Escape Studios.  Lee is an experienced animator who combines technical and creative skills to create a great animation performance.  

Lee has won a number of industry awards for his short films Jelly Cars and The Leaching. Lee also has an MA in Animation from Buckinghamshire New University. 

Marc Stevenson - Head of Animation

Marc Stevenson
 is our Head of Animation at Escape Studios. Marc teaches our second year undergraduate students Module AN5002, in which students tackle the art of animal and creature animation, and also teaches animation basics (AN4001) to our first year animation students.

Marc is an experienced animator with credits on multiple Hollywood VFX films including Fast & Furious 6, Avengers, Age of Ultron, Moon, and Victor Frankenstein.

Marc has also created many tutorials for our students, which you can find at our Animation Vimeo Channel.

Matteo Sanna
Matteo Sanna
Matteo Sanna
 teaches our Evening Class in 3D Animation.  Matteo Sanna is an experienced animator whose extensive animation and VFX film credits include Avengers: Endgame, Geostorm, Avengers: Infinity War, and Hellboy.

Matteo's skills include creature animation, character animation, motion capture editing, previs and postvis, layout TD, and techvis. 

Matteo also has a thorough knowledge of knowledge of Maya, 3ds Max, and Cinema 4d.

Steven Lall

Steve Lall
 has a decade of experience of working in advertising and animation, both 2D and 3D.

Steve Lall teaches AN4001 "Locomotion & Mechanics" to our first year animation students, both 3D animation in Maya and also 2D Animation in Toonboom Harmony.

Steve's broad animation skillset also includes graphic design, film editing, lighting & rendering, and also managing the motion capture pipeline.  Steve Lall has a BA in Animation from the University of Creative Arts, and a Diploma in Art and Design from Oxford Brookes University.  Prior to joining Escape Studios Steve worked in the advertising industry. 

Kevin Richards
Kevin Richards
Kevin Richards
 is a traditional 2D animator who took our 12 week short course in animation at Escape Studios, and successfully made the transition to 3D animation in Maya.

Kevin recently worked as a Lead Animator on the Aardman Animation TV Series "Pop Paper City", produced by LoveLove Films

Kevin is experienced with both 2D and 3D animation, and has an MA in Animation from the Royal College of Art.  Kevin teaches our Second Year Animators character and creature animation. 

Alexander Williams - Dean of Animation & VFX
Alexander Williams
Alexander Williams is Dean of Animation and Visual Effects at Escape Studios. 

Alex's 2D film credits include Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Thief and The Cobbler, The Ling King, Pocahontas, The Iron Giant, Looney Tunes - Back in Action, The Road to El Dorado, Spirit - Stallion of the Cimarron, and Sinbad.  

Alex has worked on projects at many major animation studios including Disney, DreamWorks, Fox, Sony and Warner Bros.
