Offcut wins Best VFX at Kosice Film Fest

Many congratulations to the makers of "Offcut", which has won Best VFX at the Kosice International Film Festival.

Offcut is a short film directed by Petroc Menuhin, produced by Tosin Ogunleye and Ethen Dent, which follows the adventures of a discarded scrap of wood who comes to life and finds meaning in music.   "Offcut" has won many festival awards.

Many congratulations to the makers of "Offcut", which has won an Honourable Mention in the category of Best VFX at the LIMFF.

Offcut is a short film directed by Petroc Menuhin, produced by Tosin Ogunleye and Ethen Dent, which follows the adventures of a discarded scrap of wood who comes to life and finds meaning in music.   "Offcut" has won many festival awards.  

Offcut Best Short at Arte Non Stop Festival

Many congratulations to the makers of "Offcut", which has won a "Winners Award" at the ArteNonStopFestival in Argentina. 

This is the sixth festival award for "Offcut", which recently won Best Animation at the Beer Town Film Festival in Burton-on-Trent, winning a prize of £500. In July Offcut was selected for the finals for "VFX Film of the Year" in The 2020 Rookies, and in June "Offcut" won two awards: "Best Under 5 Minute Film" at the Flicks Film Festival, and Best DOP (Director of Photography) at the "We Make Films Festival" in London.

Congratulations to the makers of "Offcut", which has won an award for "Best Animation" at the Beer Town Film Festival in Burton-on-Trent, winning a prize of £500 - plus a good deal of free beer.

This is the fifth festival award for "Offcut", which in July was selected for the finals for "VFX Film of the Year" in The 2020 Rookies.

In June "Offcut" won two awards: "Best Under 5 Minute Film" at the Flicks Film Festival, and Best DOP (Director of Photography) at the "We Make Films Festival" in London.

Congratulations to all our students whose films have been selected for the finals for "VFX Film of the Year" in The 2020 Rookies, which have just been announced.

Three of our students' films were selected for the finals: "Offcut", "Seeker" and "The Lost City of Aztlan", all three of which are currently also in festival competition.

"Flame" wins Best Editor

Many congratulations to the makers of "Flame" and "Offcut", which have both won awards at the recent "We Make Films Festival" in London.

"Flame" won Best Editor, and "Offcut" won Best DOP (Director of Photography).  The awards are a welcome addition to both films' trophy cabinet, which already include a number of festival prizes.

Flame was directed by Cherelle Owusu, produced by Carolina Xavier, and edited by Victor Andreas Lopez.  "Offcut" was directed Petroc Menuhin, with cinematography by Clement Gharini.

Escape Students Win Multiple Awards at BIAFF

Many congratulations to the makers of "The Golden Acorn", directed by Maciej Osuch, which recently won Nominee, Best Trailer at the Bucharest Shortcut Cinefest. You can see the official awards page here.

"Adam & Eve Mk II" has also won Best Animation at the British International Amateur Film Festival.

In addition, , "Jelly Cars" and "Flame" won "Five Star Awards" at the British International Amateur Film Festival, and  "Jerich0", "Joe", "March of the Potguins", "Draw" and "Offcut", all won "Four Star Awards".

Offcut Wins Best Under 5 Minute Film at Flicks

It's nice to have some good news in these troubled times; so please forgive us if we take time out from Covid-19 coverage to offer our  congratulations to the makers of "Offcut", which has won an award for "Best Under 5 Minute Film" at the monthly Flicks Film Festival.

Offcut, is a short film directed by Petroc Menuhin, which follows the adventures of a discarded scrap of wood who comes to life and finds meaning in music.  It's a charming film, and a well-deserved winner. 

"Offcut" Wins Best Animation at Dirigo Festival

Many congratulations to the makers of "Offcut", which has won its first festival award for Best Animation at the Dirigo 6th International Student Film Festival 2020.

The Dirigo Film Festival takes place next Monday at the Arnolfini Arts Centre, Bristol on Monday,  January 27th 2020 from 18:45 pm. Tickets are free - so come along and support your fellow student film-makers. Let's make some noise!

"Offcut" Selected for Dirigo Film Festival

Many congratulations to the makers of "Offcut", whose film has been selected for its first festival entry - the Dirigo 6th International Student Film Festival 2020.

The event takes place at the Arnolfini Arts Centre, Bristol on Monday,  January 27th 2020 from 18:45 pm. Tickets are free.

Our short film Flame, directed by Cherelle Owusu, is a finalist at the Horsham Film Festival, which takes place on 13th February. You can buy tickets for £10 here.

And Sebastian Kuder's graduation film Adam & Eve Mk II has been selected for the Brussels Independent Film Festival on February 9th, and the Wild Indie Sci-fi & Fantasy Film Festival in Greenwich, which takes place on 1 February. Tickets are on sale now at Event Brite for £10.

Introducing "Offcut"

Escape Studios proudly presents "Offcut", a short film directed by third year animation student Petroc Menuhin, produced by Tosin Ogunleye and Ethen Dent, and completed as part of the third year animation Module PR6001,  a Studio Project worth 60 Credits.  In this module our animation and VFX students join forces to produce a visual effects (VFX) project, with three months to take the project from initial pitch to final render.
