Sebastien Foucan Visits Escape Studios

Sebastien Foucan in Casino Royale
We're delighted to welcome back Parkour founder Sebastien Foucan to Escape Studios.

Sebastien Foucan was talking to our third year animation students this week about what makes a great action scene. How does an animator go about choosing the right action for the right circumstance?

Sebastien Foucan is the founder of the Foucan Academy and also one of the founders of the Parkour Movement, the athletic training discipline in which practitioners move in the most fluid way possible.

Animation Tutorials - Locomotion & Mechanics

"Clown Walk" by Ben Swallow
Our Vimeo Tutorial Channel is our central hub for our animation and VFX video tutorials, making it easier than ever for our students to find tutorials to support their classroom studies.

Tutorials begin with the basics, such as the bouncing ball, and progress through walks and runs to complex physical actions such as a character throwing a ball.  You can also find tutorials on weight, flexibility and overlapping action as well as body mechanics and parkour.

Parkour Tutorial with Paloma Zhu

We've uploaded a new parkour animation tutorial to our expanding Vimeo channel; this time a parkour animation shot by Paloma Zhu; you can find it here.

The shot was originally animated by Paloma on the short film "Street Ratz", which was nominated for Best Trailer at the Assurdo Film Festival.  In this tutorial, Paloma shows how she created live action reference clips and edited them together to block out her animation, ensuring realism, accuracy and believability.
