Introducing "KattiBao - An Embrace", the latest short film created by our graduating class of students at Escape Studios. KattiBao - An Embrace was a collaboration between students studying the Art of Games, The Art of Animation, and also Character Creation. In "KattiBao", two characters, Thidamana and XiXi face off in a stylised competitive dance. The film was written, directed and produced by Grace Lam. Arin Awojobi was the Art Director, and Mia Cliff was the cinematographer.
The characters draw from traditional Chinese and Tamil culture and dance traditions. KattiBao is about two characters from different cultures who meet, fight & dance, and about the initial fear they have when they first meet someone different - which then turns into curiosity & respect.
Thanks to all the tutors at Escape Studios who gave feedback and support.
Industry feedback was generously provided by Shelley Page from Locksmith Animation, and by Sam Little from Hammer Creative.
