I have been fortunate enough to work on many projects, they have all had enjoyable moments. But what I really value as an animator is when you get a chance to create a beautiful performance piece, one that evokes feelings. You are lucky if you get one or two of those shots on every film or commercial you work on. I also find artistic collaboration with the director and other team members very rewarding.
Working in the industry brings with it many challenges. Animating super realistic creatures that don't resemble anything currently living on earth is one of the toughest assignments. The deadlines on production can be insane and, of course, many of us are anxious about the challenges of Brexit.
Animators face a lot of challenges, but that also keeps the job interesting. It is an exciting time to be part of the animation industry just now; there is a lot of work around and the new projects are constantly pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved. Animation techniques are becoming more complex - as an animator, you need to keep learning to be on top of your game.
There is lots of competition out there but don't give up, and keep trying to get that dream job. Work hard on your show reel and keep improving it. Ask for feedback from more experienced animators; that will help you to perfect your skills.
Be flexible, consider moving to a different town or even a different country to gain work experience if needed. Don't overlook smaller less well known companies as they might be more willing to give you a chance to work on actual shots...... start small and work you way up. "
