Despite this, the animation industry continues to thrive, with 25% of box office success coming from animation productions in 2024 (see infographic left).
Two of this year's biggest hits are Inside Out 2 ($1.6 billion worldwide) and just-released Wild Robot.
The State of UK Animation
Here in the United Kingdom we have over 2,500 studios, of which around 465 have employees - a surprising number given our small size compared to the USA. The UK punches way above our weight in the global animation market, with many jobs and opportunities for this growing industry.
UK Tax Credits
One reason is Government support. Today, despite industry headwinds, animation in the UK continues to thrive, supported by a generous tax credit that offers almost 40% of the production budget. To see more about how the UK tax credits work, read this blog post.
