Escape Students Meet "Ray Gunn" Director Brad Bird

Brad Bird and "Ray Gunn"

Escape Studios' animation students had the chance to meet "Incredibles" Director Brad Bird at a pre-screening of his new movie "Ray Gunn" at Soho House last week.

The event was organised by Netflix for AMPAS and BAFTA members, but Escape Studios was able to secure a few tickets for our animation students at this pre-premiere event.

After the film, director Brad Bird took questions about the making of the film and then chatted with guests over drinks in the bar at Soho House.

Ray Gunn

Ray Gunn is animated animated science fiction mystery film written and directed by Brad Bird, and produced and distributed by Netflix film.  Ray Gunn had its world premiere at the BFI in London on Saturday and will have a limited theatrical release in December.

Thirty Years in Development

Originally developed at Turner Feature Animation in the 1990s,  Ray Gunn has been thirty years in the making.  When Turner Feature Animation was acquired by Warner Bros Feature Animation in 1996 Ray Gunn was put on ice, only to be revived thirty years later with Netflix backing the project.

Ray Gunn was produced by Skydance Animation, the film studio founded by Pixar founder John Lasseter.  It goes on release to select theatres in the UK on December 4th.
