Escape Studios visited King Bee Animation this week, for a one day animation workshop introducing students to the art and craft of animation.

King Bee is located in the historic Elstree Studios in North London, notable for being the location of the original 1977 Star Wars movie.

King Bee

King Bee is an independent animation studio based in historic Elstree Studios, North London.  

King Bee Animation is owned and run by animator Martyn Niman, who will be visiting Escape Studios this fall for an "Evening With..." event, focusing on how Escapees can break into the animation industry.

King Bee Animation has offered many internships to Escapees over the years. 

Flip-a-Clip

The King Bee animation workshop used the free software "Flip-a-Clip", which can be downloaded from the Apple Store.  Animation was done on the iPad with an iPad stylus.

Elstree Studios is home to multiple movie hits including The Dam Busters (1955),  2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Where Eagles Dare (1968), Star Wars (1977), The Shining (1980) and the Indiana Jones series of films.
