Our animation taster is back! We're running an in-person Animation Taster at Escape Studios on Monday 20th March 2023, taught by short course animation tutor Lee Caller.

Taster Classes are a great chance to learn about character and creature animation, and find out what an animator's job is all about.

Taster Day with Lee Caller

 offers an introduction to the art of 3D Animation, exploring what it’s like to work as a professional animator.  You will learn how to use Autodesk Maya and get a hands-on introduction to 3D Animation techniques. No prior knowledge of Maya - or any software - is required.

Where and When

Monday 20 March 2023, 10am to 4pm at 190 High Holborn WC1. The event costs £25.

Lee Caller is an award-winning animator who teaches our Short Course, Advanced Animation and MA Animation students at Escape Studios.  Lee is an animator who combines technical and creative skills; he has a master's degree in animation.

Bird in Flight Tutorial

We've got a new animation tutorial uploaded to our Vimeo channel; showing how to animate a bird in flight, and the basics of avian locomotion. The tutorial also covers motion paths, set design, cameras, and basic lighting, teaching all the basic elements of the 3D animation pipeline in Maya in one exercise. The tutorial is aimed at beginners and no prior knowledge of Maya is needed. You can find it here at our Vimeo channel.
