Escape Studios Animation Library |
My personal library of animation books was gathering dust at home (most of my animation work gets done at the office) so I figured - why not bring the books to work?
That way they could reach a wider audience - and our animation students can read them too.
There are many useful books here, not just the obvious titles like "The Animator's Survival Kit" but plenty of titles on development, character and creature animation, independent film finance, acting, and design. Recent additions include a biography of Walt Disney and also books on animating in Maya.
The library has no librarian - apart from the artists' model (see photo above) who is the keeper of the Orange Book, where you can sign the books out and (please) sign them back in again.
Of course, we have a proper library at Escape Studios, but it's entirely online. And sometimes you just want to read an old-school book with ink printed on paper.
The Escape Studios Animation Blog offers a personal view on the art of animation and visual effects. To find out more about our new BA/MArt, now recruiting for September 2019, follow this link. To apply, visit the offical page here.
