What's this all about?
This award is part of the 15th annual VES Awards, and aims to honor "Outstanding Achievement in Visual Effects in a Student Project".
What exactly counts as a student Project?
A Student Project is defined as any project that was created by a student or team of students while attending a recognized school - and that was completed during the calendar year of 2016. It may be Animated or Photoreal; linear or interactive; 2D, 3D or VR.
How long should the submission be?
Not more than two minutes.
What is the deadline?
The deadline is November 30th 2016
How much does it cost to enter?
The total entry fee for a Student Project is US$25.00 regardless of the number of individuals named on the entry. Payment must be received no later than 5 PM PST, November 30, 2016 [check].
What happens if you win?
One student from the winning entry will be invited to attend the Awards Gala at the expense of the VES. Covered expenses include airfare to and from Los Angeles, transportation to and from the airport to a hotel of the VES’ choosing, two nights hotel accommodations, and two days per diem of $75. All other expenses are the responsibility of the student.

What are the submission requirements?
Submission Format Requirements:
1920 x 1080p, 23.98 fps DNxHD 36 8-bit video. (No exceptions)
Color Levels per Rec. 709/BT.709, where reference black is defined as 8-bit value 16, and reference white is defined as 8-bit value 235.
Note: all entries will be displayed as above in video range; DO NOT submit materials in full RGB range or they will look incorrect.
Audio in 16-bit 44.1KHz
