This year’s speakers are some of leading figures in VFX and Animation, talented artists who have worked on films such as The Martian, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ex Machina.

The event is the third annual Irish VFX and animation summit. It first took place two years ago in Dublin, Ireland.
When is it happening?
Friday 20 November through Sunday 22 November, 2015
Where is it happening?
Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin, Ireland. Which, as it happens, is the Irish headquarters of the mighty Google. And that is probably why all the folks in the photo are cheering - presumably someone tipped them off that the Google Maps van was driving past that day.

What is our talk about?
I'm doing a half day workshop on Friday 20 November from 2pm until 5pm on "How do Animators Create Memorable and original 3D Characters?"
I'll be talking about some of my own work on films like "The Iron Giant", "Lion King", "Harry Potter", and "Chronicles of Narnia". We'll also be digging into the creative process, learning how to avoid cliché, talking about character design and also how to get a great performance out of your characters.
To get a bit of the flavour of some of what we'll be talking about, watch this video:
Is Escape Studios running an animation course soon?
Glad you asked! We'll be running a twelve week intensive animation course early next year, probably in February. Details to follow soon.
