Toonboom Harmony Licenses at Escape

Toonboom Harmony is back - we're in the processing of installing a number of rolling, annual licenses in Toonboom Harmony, so that our students can access the software at any time.

We also use Harmony for our evening class in 2D Animation, which starts on 18 March.

At the 2019 Annecy animation festival in France it was clear to all of us at Escape that a 2D animation revival is in progress. Here in London, Blue Zoo animation is expanding into 2D, and there are plenty of opportunities for 2D animators - as long as they are properly trained in the right software.

Toonboom is a Montreal-based software company that makes Toonboom Storyboard Pro and also Harmony, one of the leading software packages for 2D animation.  2D animation is experiencing a significant revival, and we're been teaching evening classes in Harmony for some time now, taught by Blue Zoo veteran Plamen Ananiev.

2D Animation is expanding globally and also in London, where studios like Blue Zoo, Aardman, and Brown Bag Animation all use Toonboom Harmony as their 2D animation software platform of choice.

Toonboom Harmony is a very flexible software package, that allows the user to combined 2D rigged puppet-style animation with the ability to hand-draw elements in the traditional way.

Harmony Evening Class
Our 10 week Harmony evening class covers the basics of locomotion and mechanics in animation, and also 2D rigging, and aims to get students familiar with the software, to enable them to apply for the many studios in the UK and overseas that are embracing this software package. 

2D Software Skills

Blue Zoo is our industry mentor for this course

The course is aimed at animators wanting to acquire 2D software skills. This course will enable students to learn the basics of 2D animation using Toonboom Harmony; no prior knowledge of the software is required.

Evening Class
You will be expected to attend an evening class one night a week, and will be set simple projects to do in-class. You will also have the opportunity to develop your portfolio or demo reel, with an industry brief.

Industry Mentor

Plamen Ananiev

Our industry mentor for our 10 week evening class is Blue Zoo, who use ToonBoom Harmony, and have lately recruited a substantial number of 2D animators.  As with all our courses, the class builds up to a live industry brief, ensuring that student work is well targeted towards employers looking to recruit talent.

Tutor
Our tutor is the very talented Plamen Ananiev, an experienced 2D animator who is currently working on Simon's Cat in London.
