New Substance Painter Tutorials at Vimeo

We've uploaded a new series of tutorials on the use of Substance Painter to our Vimeo Tutorial Channel, which is free for all our students and Escapees. The tutorials were recorded by our UG program leader Michael Davies.

Substance Painter is an important tool that in recent years has been used extensively for texturing, especially in the Games Industry. Recently the Substance Painter tools have developed to be used within the animation and VFX Pipeline, so it's more important than ever that our students are able to learn this increasingly important tool.

Substance Painter Tutorials
These tutorials will take you from the basics of Substance Painter interface; all the way to texturing assets ready to be used in both Games and VFX projects. As with all of our Vimeo tutorials, these are for our current students and Escapees, and are password-protected.

Michael Davies

Michael Davies is one full-time animation tutors at Escape Studios; he is Program Leader for undergraduate animation, and a 3D Artist and rigging specialist.

PMichael has worked on many VFX blockbusters such as Batman vs Superman, Doctor Strange and Thor Ragnarok, and brings a very versatile skillset to the animation classroom.

Learn from the man who rigged Smaug

Michael's rigging credits are impressive: he rigged Smaug (The Hobbit) and also The Minions for the Illumination-McGuff studio.

Michael's main areas of expertise are rigging and 3D modelling, but he has also worked as a generalist and supervisor.

Autodesk Accreditation
Michael has been developing future creative talent by sharing his skills since 2014 and is an Accredited Trainer for Maya at Autodesk.
