Michael O’Sullivan Visits Escape Studios

We're delighted to welcome Hollywood Movie executive and former Paramount CFO Michael O’Sullivan to Escape Studios tomorrow. On Wednesday 15th January Michael will deliver a talk on the art of finance in the creative industries.

How do our students create innovative ideas for film, TV and games that can become commercially viable?

Our MA Students in Storyboarding and Previz will meet Michael O’Sullivan and will have the opportunity to discuss topics on film financing. In particular, they will learn the art of preparing a commercially viable project pitch.


Storyboarding and Previsualisation
Our MA in Storyboarding and Previz is taught by Iliana Franklin, an animation artist with years of experience in the industry. Storyboarding is a specialism encompasses multiple skills that are highly transferable and can lead to varied positions, including film directing and independent film-making.

Our MA students’ have already created some remarkable projects; their next step is to learn how to prepare for a business pitch to attract further interest from potential investors and to find a successful route to the market.

About Michael O’Sullivan

Michael O’Sullivan is a seasoned film industry executive with over 40 years’ experience in the film, TV, video/DVD and cinema exhibition industries. His expertise includes film & TV production, strategic and financial planning; financial reporting; movie and TV scheduling, budgeting and accounting.

During his career, Michael was involved in the production of over 70 movies and numerous TV programmes and series. These include films such as The Great Gatsby, The Duellists, Shogun, The Indiana Jones trilogy, Reds, The Winds of War, Shirley Valentine, The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, The Talented Mr Ripley, the Mission Impossible series, Lara Croft Tomb Raider and many others.

Executive Vice President CFO
Michael recently retired from Paramount Pictures International as the Executive Vice President CFO after a 37-year career.  He was also on the board of the joint venture companies, UIP, CIC. and UCI and as such has an intimate knowledge of all forms of film finance, distribution and exhibition.
