Daniel Dutton Studio Assistant at Escape

Daniel Dutton
Many congratulations to our fourth year animation student Daniel Dutton who was recently made a studio assistant at Escape Studios, while studying for his MA in his fourth year.

Daniel has worked a number of award-winning short films during his time at Escape Studios; he was the editor on Jericho, a short film completed by our third year undergraduate students, in which a lonely robot searches for pieces to build a mechanical friend.

Daniel also animated on Minuet, a short film about a young concert pianist who, while preparing for her big performance, finds help in an unlikely place. Daniel was Technical Director (TD) on the project, managing the Unreal Engine pipeline.

Studio Assistant
Daniel joins our team as a studio assistant, helping undergraduate animation students to progress in their work, helping to solve technical problems and also offer practical advice on animation techniques.

Studio assistants form an essential part of the feedback process at Escape Studios, part of what we call The Escape Method.

Editor on Jericho
Daniel was the editor on Jericho, which won Best Animation at the Melrose Film Festival in Orlando, Florida, was shortlisted for a student BAFTA, and won Best Animation and Best VFX at the 2019 Nexus Film Festival.  It also won an award in the 2019 Zero Budget Film Festival.

Animator and TD on Minuet
Minuet made the official selection for many international festivals, and won awards for Best Animation in the 2019 Zero Budget Film Festival and Best Animation in the Golden Nugget International Film Festival
