countdown to our 2017 VFX festival is on, and tickets are selling out fast.
Just like last year, we'll be showcasing the best of VFX, Animation, Games and Motion Graphics.
There is no better way to find out about the latest trends in our industry and - of most importance for our recent Escapees - who is hiring and for what. We strongly encourage all our current, past and future students to attend. Come and find out what the future holds for our industry.
Where and when is the VFX Festival?
Brought to you by Escape Studios, part of Pearson College London, the 2017 VFX Festival will run in association with arts and cultural hub, Rich Mix in Shoreditch, from 7th - 9th February 2017.
What's on display?
Spanning four floors over two days, the festival will for the first time feature three dedicated exhibition hubs, covering Education, Technology and Industry. The schedule will be packed with a series of leading industry talks and showcases from across the VFX, Animation, Games and Motion Graphics sectors.
VFX is a constantly changing landscape. Last year's "big thing" is this
year's old news. So come along, and find out about the latest trends in
Where is it?
Rich Mix in Shoreditch, 35 - 47 Bethnal Green Road, London E1 6LA. Nearest overground train station is Shoreditch High St. Nearest Tube is Liverpool St - and then a 12 minute walk.
Speakes include Framestore - who will be presenting their work on "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", and Motion Graphics superstar, the man behind the graphics on some of the last decade's most impressive visuals, Danny Yount.
For many Escapees and recent graduates, the most important part of the Festival is probably the recruiters, who come from all the big VFX houses hunting for talent. If you'd like to meet in person the people who could help you get a job (and why wouldn't you?) - this is the place to be.
What is Escape Studios all about?
We're all about teaching our students the skills that industry needs. Not for us long essays and theoretical learning - we favour hands-on techniques and the latest software. To see some of the recent work done by students at Escape studios, watch the video below. My personal favourite is the shot of London's BT Tower coming down, made by Escapee Michael Battcock - it's the last shot on the reel.
What is the VFX Festival like?
To give you a flavour of what the Festival will be like, below is a panel talk on careers in VFX from the 2015 Festival, featuring a discussion of what it takes to break into the industry.
Where can you book tickets?
